We left our home in Molo, Iloilo City before eight in the morning but our progress was not speedy as we stopped to buy the wonderful bibinkas (a coconut specialty) at the “Bingkahan Mohon” in Oton — highly, highly recommended. It right near the junction with the road which heads to Mandurriao. We bought our take-out lunch at an eatery in Tiolas, where we also spied and bought a beautiful four kilogram speckled grouper to be picked up on our way back. The eatery is Magpatao-Hay. It’s on the left before Tiolas. It a real Filipino place with dirt floors but nice people and good food. They catch their own fish just offshore of the eatery. Full of provisions we got underway once again. We turned of toward Anini-y at Tiolas, which is beyond San Joaquin. Had we continued on the main road we would have crossed the mountains and ended up at Antique’s capitol, San Jose.
There is also a bus from Iloilo City to Sira-an Hot Springs and to Nogas Island While we haven’t ridden it ourselves, it looks to be a fast-paced adventure. We understand that it leaves from the bus terminal in Molo on San Pedro Street, a block or two east of Molo Plaza. You’ll have to find and speak with bus terminal manager to find the schedule.

The trees lining the Tiolas shore are Flame Trees (Delonix regia). They create a wonderful vista from the heights above the shore and likely from the water too. Whoever planted them should receive a medal, a statue in the park!

The road from Iloilo City to Tiolas, San Joaquin is excellent. After turning left in Tiolas the route is very beautiful. At first the road is paved but the terrain becomes steeper and the road is gravel and dirt except for a few stretches where it passes through settlements. Cars can probably make it OK but an SUV or AUV is better. Just take your time. It’s a beautiful trip.

Sira-an Hot Springs Resort offers picnic shelters, pool, volcanic hot springs to soak in. There are also overnight accommodations at Sira-an.

Dear Bob and Carol,
I need to tell you that I really like going to your website for it gives more prospective of what’s happening around Visayas Island. I grew up in Bacolod but my heart belongs to Antique. Since childhood we usually visit Tobias Fornier for my mother’s relative lived there. I remembered Anini-y hot spring and Nogas Island very well when it is still not gated and owned by the town. Since I married an American it’s along way for retirement yet but I already told him I want us to retire in Negros. But he prefers to stay in Tobias Fornier which give me a second thought he is a New Yorker really a city guy, although he lived in Honolulu most of his younger times. I asked him to visit your site and he did. It is easy for me to let him weigh things now and then. As i said to him as long we are healthy life is better in Phils… We go home once in awhile hope our path will meet I’m sure he likes to see someone to be in his shoes…do you know how to speak Ilongo now ….or Tagalog… Keep writing the pictures are nicely taken too….Take care

totoo ba yan lahat na ganyan na ang siraan hot spring..sana nman mas lalo pang gaganda ang view,bkit iyong ibang beach hindi nyo nilagay sa website like puti beach in tagimtim tobias fornier antique,more pictures about our province like mountaine and native cultures,picture nice place….thnx for the first time antique is her in website..

napakaganda na ngayon ang lugar na ito and fyi kasama ako sa gumawa ng mga pool na yan last 1981. Bagaman ito ay hindi masyadong naririnig at nakikita sa mga publications kagaya ng borakay island na nasa Antique rin subalit marahil ang lugar na ito ay mayroong potential upang maituturing na isa sa maaring maipinagmamalaki ng bayan ng anini-y dahilan upang ito ay mabigyan ng pansin ng mga taong bagaman ay hindi naninirahan dito ngunit mayroong hangaring maging maunlad ang bayang ito. Ipagpatuloy nating alagaan ang kalinisan at kaayusan sa lugar na ito. . . . . . . Mabuhay !!!!! . . .

napakaganda na pala ng lugar na dati namin tinatambayan ng mga barkada ko,pag may b-day ang isa o kahit anong ukasyon noon jan ang punta namin,..at kasama dn ako ni Francisco Torrevilla sa paggawa nga pool ta mga jacuzzi na yan. yup! that was 1981..i was in 2nd yr high schl. summer vac. noon kaya kailangan kung magtrabaho,para may pambili ng mga gamit sa schl.sa pasukan,..napakaganda na ng lugar namin..pls post more pix of anini-y,maraming mga magagandang tanawin jan sa bayan namin..thanks and GOD BLESS to all us…
napaganda na pala ng siraan hot spring jan ako pinanganak sa brgy nato na may sakop ng lugar na yan..at kasama dn ako ni Francisco Torrevilla na gumawa ng pool at mga jacuzzi na yan,.that was 1981..yup! i was in 2nd yr high schl at that time..4 yrs na kong di nakauwi..and a lot of things was change in my home town..thanks for posting the beautiful spot of anini-y…god bless to all of us..

i came from san jose antique; really surprised for the great progress in this place how do i love this sight,,, really beautiful wish to be there also, and hope to be soon….wising good lucks to all people in allanini-y …..thanks for sharing this great place….hope to see more developments….
